Added on: 04/25/2008Varanasi, Apr 25(ANI): Artisans weaving the traditional Indian sarees, popularly known as Banarasi sarees, in northern Varanasi lament the heavy losses accruing from hefty duty levy. The Banarasi saree, named after Varanasi's old name, Benaras, is the city's most famous export item. However, due to unfavourable trade terms, seasoned weavers who have been a part of the profession for decades find it hard to continue.
